Description

From the irreverent star of Fox News’s Red Eye and The Five, hilarious observations on the manufactured outrage of an oversensitive, wussified culture.

Greg Gutfeld hates artificial tolerance. At the root of every single major political conflict is the annoying coddling Americans must endure of these harebrained liberal hypocrisies. In fact, most of the time liberals uses the mantle of tolerance as a guise for their pathetic intolerance. And what we really need is smart intolerance, or as Gutfeld reminds us, what we used to call common sense.

The Joy of Hate
tackles this conundrum head on--replacing the idiocy of open-mindness with a shrewd judgmentalism that rejects stupid ideas, notions, and people. With countless examples grabbed from the headlines, Gutfeld provides readers with the enormous tally of what pisses us all off. For example:
- The double standard: You can make fun of Christians, but God forbid Muslims. It's okay to call a woman any name imaginable, as long as she's a Republican. And no problem if you're a bigot, as long as you're politically correct about it.
- The demonizing of the Tea Party and romanticizing of the Occupy Wall Streeters.
- The media who are always offended (see MSNBC lineup)
- How critics of Obamacare or illegal immigration are somehow immediately labeled racists.
- The endless debate over the Ground Zero Mosque (which Gutfeld planned to open a Muslim gay bar next to).
- As well as pretentious music criticism, slow-moving ceiling fans, and snotty restaurant hostesses.

Funny and sarcastic to the point of being mean (but in a nice way), The Joy of Hate points out the true jerks in this society and tells them all off.

I like an interesting read. Bonus if I laugh. This is hillariously funny and extremely annoying in it’s accuracy of portraying outrage. The examples are plucked from current events so it’s very easy to ride along with this roller coaster. Some of this may even outrage you.

This book was top shelf. Well done easy to read. Even had comedy in a very serious style of what is wrong with the US.

Greg is in my top 5 people I will knowingly turn on the TV to watch. His comical perspective is second to no one. I eagerly await his next book. Thanks Greg.

Watching Greg on Fox has always been a joy as he is a smart guy who comes across with a high level of integrity as to his thoughts and insights, very much a "what you see is what you get." This book was just that way a great read and as expected thought provoking and humorous.

Gutfeld's analysis of the "tolerati" and their overamped intolerance is spot on! A great, fun read!

The one star reviews are no doubt OWS attendees or sympathizers. Greg is the brightest and funniest talent around and this book dispenses common sense with wit and humor. it helps that his positions are dead on too. My 20 year old daughter read and loved it as well. She's able to intelligently counter the liberal BS being spewed by most ignorant 20 year olds thanks in part to this book. Highly recommend!

This book reeks of strawman attack and other logical fallicies . If you are looking for an empty feel good book for angry for far right ideologs lookng for solice in the short commings of their movement then this book is for you. if you are a conservative looking for a good read that is stimulating and logical then you have found the wrong book. Looking foward to seeing this empty rant on the bargin bin very soon

I love Greg's unique ability to bring common sense & humor together. A must read if you really want to gain a better understanding of what is wrong with American society today!

This book was such a refreshing read. Greg is brilliant but not stuck in his brilliance. He makes a fantastic, eloquently astute point followed by an absurdly stupid joke (or a parenthetical aside followed by a tangent--I love his tangents, sometimes they go on and on like a dark road that leads who knows where and you wonder if he will ever get back to his original point) Back to my original point: Buy this book and read it between The Five and Red Eye until you've read the whole thing (or at least until his next book comes out; whichever comes first) ONE more thing!! (Kimberly Guilfoyle just jumped) Just as a line in a movie with Christopher Walken would not be the same if not read in his distinctive style, this book would not be as entertaining if not read as Greg talks so be sure to read it the same way, preferably out loud so you can annoy other people. He'd want it that way. ~Dave
